Bellevue University Announces Free Series to Help Students Understand Financial Aid

In honor of Financial Aid Awareness Month, Bellevue University’s Scholarships and Grants Department will host a series with weekly sessions to help students better understand topics related to financial aid.

The series will feature four 60-minute sessions. Three sessions will be held via Zoom and one will be held in person. There is no fee to participate.

“We want students to understand their options and to know they have options,” Johnna Hargens-Brown, Director of Scholarships and Grants at Bellevue University, said. “We want them to become more financially literate as it pertains to aid so they are better prepared to make informed financial decisions as it pertains to their education.”

Session Information:

Scholarship Apply Night

Date: Tuesday, Feb. 8

Time: 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Session Description: This event will focus on discussing scholarships and grants and will include basic tips for applying for internal and external scholarships. Students will have time to begin their Bellevue University scholarship application for the fall term as well as essays and other outside scholarship applications.

Undergraduate Financial Aid Open House

Date: Tuesday, Feb. 15

Time: 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Session Description: This event will cover general undergraduate financial aid information and employer-funded options. Attendees will also learn where to complete the FAFSA and will be given an opportunity to ask questions.

Graduate Financial Aid Open House

Date: Thursday, Feb. 17

Time: 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Session Description: This event will cover general graduate financial aid information and employer-funded options. Attendees will also learn where to complete the FAFSA and will be given an opportunity to ask questions.

FAFSA Apply Night

In addition to the events listed above, Bellevue University will also team up with EducationQuest to host a virtual FAFSA Apply Night. The event will be held via Zoom on Feb. 10 from 6 to 7 p.m. CST. The session will include an overview of financial aid, a walk through of the FAFSA application process and verification. There will also be time for questions.
