A Model Built for Access, Designed for Outcomes

Since its founding in 1966, Bellevue University has moved forward with a clear focus: to provide accessible, career-focused education for learners balancing work, life, and school. The University’s mission and its vision, “to boldly adapt to a rapidly changing world to ensure our learners have the skills and support they need to make an impact in the global workforce,” continues today.
The 2024–25 data reflects how that mission translates into action at scale. With more than 18,000 students—most of whom are learning online—Bellevue has built an ecosystem that prioritizes flexibility without sacrificing support. A high percentage of Pell-eligible and first-generation students speaks to the University’s commitment to expanding access, while its strong transfer pathways and community college partnerships ensure students can continue their education without losing momentum.
Non-Profit & Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission
The University’s outcomes-focused model is further validated through continued external recognition and accreditation. Bellevue University’s accreditation was reaffirmed by the Higher Learning Commission through 2034, meeting all criteria with no deficiencies—a reflection of the institution’s academic rigor, governance, and commitment to continuous improvement. At the same time, Bellevue’s designation as an “Opportunity University” underscores its success in delivering both access and strong post-graduate outcomes, demonstrating that students are not only enrolling—but succeeding.
Partnerships That Power Workforce Impact

A defining strength of Bellevue University’s model is its deep connection to employers and workforce needs. With more than 125 employer partnerships nationwide, Bellevue plays a direct role in advancing workforce development. These partnerships go beyond traditional education and include the development of custom learning programs, short-form courses, and aligned degree pathways that help employees build skills while staying engaged in the workforce.
The results are measurable. Thousands of partner students are enrolled each year, and hundreds complete programs annually, demonstrating how higher education and industry can work together to drive talent development. This employer-aligned model ensures Bellevue graduates are prepared and ready to contribute in high-demand fields.
From the day we opened our doors in 1966, Bellevue University has been focused on one thing – preparing people for the work the world needs done. We’ve built programs that move with the economy, not behind it, so our graduates bring immediately valuable skills to the job on day one.
A Campus Experience Built for Connection and Growth

While Bellevue University is nationally recognized for its online and workforce-focused programs, its residential experience features a close-knit community of learners on a 48-acre campus with dorms, dining, a new multimillion-dollar athletics field house, and, most recently, the new Renner Dennis Outdoor Athletic Complex. “The new (Field House) facility reflects our ongoing commitment to providing outstanding opportunities for our students and for bringing the Bellevue community together for years to come,” said Dr. Mary Hawkins, Bellevue University President.
Residential students benefit from personal relationships with faculty and with staff working in academic and student support areas. And the residential model reflects the same student-first philosophy that defines Bellevue’s broader mission. Students receive support and help in reaching their academic and career goals. For many students, the residential experience lays a strong foundation for persistence and success. Located in a thriving metro area with direct access to major employers and community partners, Bellevue’s campus offers students both a sense of belonging and a pathway to their future careers.
Commitment to Community College Transfer Pathways
Equally important is Bellevue’s commitment to community college transfer students and military-connected learners. With more than 100 community college partnerships and a 62% graduation rate for transfer students, Bellevue removes traditional barriers that often slow or stop degree completion. For military and veteran students, the University provides a robust network of support and partnerships, continuing a decades-long tradition of serving those who serve.
Together, these efforts reflect a university that defines success differently, not by selectivity but by societal impact. Bellevue’s model brings together high access with high performance, ensuring that students from all backgrounds have both the opportunity and the support to succeed.
Military & Veteran Engagement

Bellevue University’s commitment to military and veteran students is foundational. One of the University’s founders was Bill Brooks, a World War II Marine fighter pilot. From its earliest days serving military-connected learners, the University has evolved into a nationally recognized destination for active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. Today, military-connected students make up 8% of Bellevue’s student population, and these learners are supported by a robust network of services, partnerships, and dedicated resources, including the Military Veteran Services Center.
The MVSC partners with 15+ military and veteran-focused organizations, including nationally recognized groups such as the Air Force Sergeants Association and Wounded Warrior Project and local nonprofits such as Hero’s Encore.
Bellevue University is also designated as both a Purple Heart University, a Yellow Ribbon School, a Supportive Institution by the State of Nebraska, and Best for Vets, reinforcing its role as a trusted partner in helping service members transition to civilian careers and continue their education.
