Bellevue University, one of America’s top online universities, today announced the addition of a new product offering – its Workplace Learning Portfolio – to power employers as they shift from jobs-based to skills-based organizations.

The portfolio features more than 20 skill-based single courses designed by educators for working learners and Certificate of Completion programs designed to help employees build core competencies in areas such as business, technology, communication and project management. New learning experiences will be added to the portfolio quarterly, ensuring that organizations and their employees have access to the latest skills needed in today’s workforce. As employees learn new industry-relevant skills they become more prepared to fill in-demand roles and take on new opportunities inside their organizations.

According to a 2022 Deloitte Insights report, 63% of organizations that embed a skills-based approach are more likely to achieve results than organizations that have not adopted skills-based practices. That’s good news for the large percentage of American companies that are currently experiencing skills gaps and those that expect to experience them in the next two to five years.

According to Dr. Rich Lombardo, Executive Director of Corporate Program Development, “Whether employees choose a foundational single course designed to help them master a specific skill or a Certificate of Completion course duo, our portfolio of skills-based courses will better equip them to get from Point A to Point B in their career.”

“

Each skill is credentialed, each course is stackable, and employees can use tuition assistance to pay for their development.

A clear career pathway is high on employees’ wish lists. “We’ve learned that employees want defined pathways for skill advancement,” said Dr. Mary Hawkins, President of Bellevue University, “and that they expect personalized learning experiences. Our employee growth planning strategies help businesses use education to meet these needs and ultimately create more value for their organizations.”

One distinguishing factor of the new skills-based portfolio, said Dr. Hawkins, is that it allows Bellevue University to customize course offerings to meet specific industry skill requirements and address core competency needs for all types and sizes of organizations. Bellevue University currently has educational partnerships with more than 125 companies and organizations in multiple verticals, including financial services, retail, technology and other industries.

In addition to the skill-based courses, Bellevue University also partners with employers to provide scalable learning experiences and innovative funding options to support learning and development initiatives that may be at various stages of maturity.

“Employers can choose the broad paths for their employees, and employees can choose the skills they’re interested in adding to their resume,” explained Dr. Lombardo. “Each skill is credentialed, each course is stackable, and employees can use tuition assistance to pay for their development.”
