Bellevue University recently received an award from Youth Salute for its contributions to the national youth leadership program over the past several years, and in celebration of the University's specific scholarship offerings.

Bellevue University offers two scholarships for incoming high school students of $4,000 per year, for up to four years, for a maximum benefit of $16,000 per student. The scholarships can also be combined with other earned donor-related funds at Bellevue University, giving the recipient a very robust scholarship offer. Johnna Hargens-Brown, Director of Scholarships and Grants, said “Bellevue University is proud to provide scholarship opportunities to youth leaders in our local community who are making a difference.”

The Greater Omaha-Council Bluffs Area Council on Youth Leadership started its affiliation with the National Council on Youth Leadership in 2017. The local council will recognize outstanding youth leaders from area high schools during a program better known as the “Youth Salute.” The purpose of Youth Salute is to honor high school juniors who have maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average or higher through the end of their sophomore year and have held two or more leadership roles in school, religious or community sponsored organizations.

In 2021 approximately $988,000 in scholarships were awarded to students through the Youth Salute program.

Bellevue University Senior Key Account Manager Debbie DeBolt, who is also an Executive Board Member for Youth Salute, said, “I am proud to serve on a board for an organization that supports youth leaders in our community to provide opportunities for graduating high school seniors through scholarship offerings. We currently have 230 students registered for the 2022 event."
