Bellevue University Introduces Financial Planning Program to Address Growing Demand in Wealth Management Industry
Program Aims to Equip Students with Essential Skills and Certification Opportunities
Bellevue University announces the launch of its new bachelor's and master's degrees in Financial Planning, alongside a concentration in financial counseling, set for the fall of 2024.
These programs are designed to equip students with the expertise required to excel in one of the nation's fastest-growing job sectors, as identified by the U.S. Labor Department.
Program Director Dr. Dishant Pandya explained that the new degree programs are a response to the 2020 pandemic which prompted many to recognize the importance of organizing their own finances due to unforeseen circumstances, as well as the fact that a significant number of Baby Boomers are expected to retire, which translates to a heightened need for financial advisors to aid those individuals with wealth management skills and expertise.
The curriculum at both undergraduate and graduate levels focuses on essential skills such as critical thinking, financial analysis, problem-solving, and communication. “That is what financial planning will do for you,” said Dr. Pandya. “It will give you tools and techniques to manage your own money and wealth.”
Students will also have the opportunity to pursue certifications such as the AFC (Accrediting Financial Counselor), CFP (Certified Financial Planning), and SIE (Securities Investment Essentials) examination programs, recognized within the industry.
