Bellevue University Marks Hispanic Heritage Month with Events on Campus
Bellevue University will recognize Hispanic Heritage Month with events that explore Hispanic culture, literature and education. Programming includes a dinner featuring entertainment and a theatrical presentation, as well as a documentary screening and discussion hosted by the university library. All events are open to the public.

Hispanic Heritage Dinner
Bellevue University will host a Hispanic Heritage Dinner on Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m. in the Margre H. Durham Student Center, 1008 Bruin Blvd. The event will include dinner, entertainment by Emmanuel Burciaga and a presentation of La Guarda Cuidadosa ("Guard in Love"), a work by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.
Community members may attend by purchasing dinner through Bruin Dining. Bruin Dining is cashless.
Documentary Screening and Discussion
The Bellevue University Library will present a free screening of Maestra: The Women of Cuba's National Literacy Campaign on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Criss Auditorium of the Hitchcock Humanities Center. Registration is encouraged.
The documentary examines Cuba's National Literacy Campaign and the role young women played in expanding literacy opportunities throughout the country. Attendees may participate in a discussion following the screening.
