Bellevue University Named a "2019 Great College to Work For"

Survey Published in The Chronicle of Higher Education Recognizes Workplace Practices

Bellevue University, one of the nation’s leaders in preparing students for lifelong success with career-relevant knowledge and skills, is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey published today in The Chronicle of Higher Education. Bellevue University is one of just two recipients from Nebraska and is among 85 institutions that received the award this year.

"Bellevue University is a great place to work because of its culture and mission," said Bellevue University President Mary Hawkins. "Our staff and faculty share a passion for students, learning and innovation — and these strong values create a resilient culture which permeates our students' experience and the workplace experience." President Hawkins added that the University’s growth in recent years is both a reflection and outgrowth of its internal culture.

The results are based on a survey of 236 colleges and universities from across the country. In all, 85 of the 236 institutions achieved "Great College to Work For" recognition for specific best practices and policies. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with Bellevue University included among the medium institutions.

Bellevue University was honored in two categories this year: facilities/workspace/security and work/life balance. The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process. An institutional questionnaire captures employment data and workplace policies, while a survey administered to faculty and staff captures employee views.

The Great Colleges to Work For program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country. ModernThink, a strategic human capital consulting firm, administers the survey and analyzes the data.
