Bellevue University Presents Virtual Entrepreneurship Panel Discussion: “Mentoring: The Secret Ingredient for Business”

BELLEVUE, Nebraska – Bellevue University will host a free virtual panel discussion “Mentoring: The Secret Ingredient for Business” at 6 p.m. on March 23.

The 60-minute webinar will feature two speakers and their respective mentors who participated in the Bellevue University Tom and Annie Pratt Entrepreneurial Award Program.

Webinar participants can expect to hear from Bellevue University alumnus speakers Graeme Eaglesham and Mike Smith and their respective mentors. Mentors include John Patterson, professor at Bellevue University, Dr. John Kyndt, associate professor at Bellevue University, John Levy, J.D., Vice President of the William and Ruth Scott Family Foundation and Cody Branson, President of Sales and Operation, Flagship Pomade Group, inc. The program will feature a discussion on how mentoring helps to build businesses.

“Every aspiring entrepreneur should care about mentoring,” Bellevue University Assistant Professor M. Merrill Johnson said. “Whether a business is in the concept stage, start-up stage or growth stage, business mentoring can be the difference between success and failure.”

Johnson added that having entrepreneurs who received mentoring as well as those who served as mentors involved in the discussion will highlight the value of the mentoring process that aspiring entrepreneurs experience in trying to get a business off the ground.

Eaglesham, who received the Pratt Award in 2018, and then completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management in 2019, took his passion and expertise in soccer and transformed it into Future Kids – a non-profit organization that provides affordable after-school soccer programs for youth in underserved communities.

Smith, who received the Pratt Award in 2017 and 2019, earned his bachelor's and master’s degrees at Bellevue University before he launched his business Dauntless Modern Grooming, a hair care brand, in 2019.
