Bellevue University Recognizes Outstanding Faculty and Staff

Five Bellevue University faculty members and three staff members were recently honored as they were named the 2023 recipients of the University's excellence in teaching, outstanding service and innovation awards.

  • David Petty, adjunct faculty member, College of Science and Technology, was honored with the Lou Soukup Adjunct Faculty Award; 
  • Megan Berry Barlow, adjunct faculty member, College of Business, was honored with the Lou Soukup Adjunct Faculty Award; 
  • Dr. Cynthia Nye, Professor, College of Business, was honored with the Excellence in Teaching Award (not pictured);
  • Karla Carter, Associate Professor, College of Science and Technology, was honored with the Excellence in Service Award; 
  • David Joel Thomas,  Assistant Professor and Program Director, College of Arts and Sciences, was honored with the Innovation in Teaching Award; 
  • Marshall Peterson, Sr. Instructional Designer, was honored with the Excellence in Innovation Award;
  • Caitlin Petty, Instructional Designer, was honored with the Excellence in Innovation Award (not pictured);
  • Alexis Perea, Sr. Director, Enrollment Management, was honored with the President's Service Award.

Employees reaching milestone service anniversaries were also recognized. 

The annual awards were announced at a University all-campus meeting held June 16. The meeting was held in-person and via Zoom and brought together more than 500 employees from campus and multiple remote locations for an update on university operations.
