Bellevue University recently announced that the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has granted approval for the continuation of accreditation of the University’s baccalaureate nursing degree program.

CCNE specially approves of the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, and residency programs in nursing. The Bellevue University RN to BSN program has been CCNE-accredited since 2018. The reaffirmation extends the Bellevue University nursing program’s CCNE accreditation through 2033.

According to University President Dr. Mary Hawkins, “CCNE’s specialized accreditation is an additional stamp of quality on top of our institutional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission, and yet another sign of the high level of preparation that our students experience.”

Dr. Mary Dobransky, Dean of the Bellevue University College of Science and Technology, said the University’s RN to BSN program is unique among other programs in that it allows students to complete their coursework online and fulfill their practicum requirements in their local communities.

The combination of online coursework and preceptor-supervised practicums, explained Dr. Dobransky, offers Registered Nurses who are pursuing their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree a greater degree of flexibility than other programs.

“Graduating from a CCNE-accredited program provides nurses with a solid foundation upon which to build their careers and pursue opportunities within their organizations and within the nursing profession,” said Program Director Dr. Candida Constantine-Castillo.

According to Dr. Constantine-Castillo, CCNE accreditation further promotes Bellevue University’s mission. “Employers know our graduates possess the skills needed to fulfill roles today and into tomorrow.”
