Bellevue University to Celebrate Constitution Day with Special Event on September 17
Bellevue University students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in the University’s Constitution Day celebration on Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will take place in the Margre H. Durham Student Center, located at 1008 Bruin Blvd., Bellevue, Nebraska.
The celebration will feature the League of Women Voters with information on voting rights and registration. Attendees can also participate in a thought-provoking "What Freedom Means to You" activity, with the chance to win prizes. In addition, participants can capture memories at the Buzzy Booth and cast their vote for the Bruin Dining menu to be served on Thursday, Sept. 26.
Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution by the delegates of the Constitutional Convention in 1787. This federally mandated observance also pays tribute to all those who hold U.S. citizenship.
The event reflects Bellevue University's ongoing commitment to fostering active citizenship and the importance of understanding our nation's history. All Bellevue University undergraduate students also complete the Kirkpatrick Signature Series (KSS), a course series that examines the significance of active citizenship in a rapidly changing world, where popular government, Western traditions, and American values are often challenged.
