Bellevue University to Celebrate MLK Jr. Day With Day of Service Project Benefiting Homeless Individuals

Bellevue University students, staff and faculty will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by giving back to the community through a Day of Service project benefiting homeless individuals in the Greater Omaha-Bellevue metropolitan area.

The service project will engage members of the University community in creating care kits for Heartland Family Service’s Homeless Street Outreach program. The outreach program provides homeless individuals with basic supplies, such as care kits, and assists them in locating permanent housing and also assists them with housing referrals, transportation and crisis intervention.

The care kits will be put together on Monday, Jan. 21, noon-1 p.m. at the Margre H. Durham Student Center on University’s Bellevue campus. The student center is located at 1008 Bruin Blvd., Bellevue, Nebraska.
