Bellevue University to Host Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibit Featuring Marco Antonio Cervantes
Bellevue University will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month throughout September by hosting an art exhibit featuring the work of artist, writer, poet, and troubadour Marco Antonio Cervantes.
A “Meet the Artist” reception will take place on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, from 6–8 p.m. in the Hitchcock Humanities Gallery and Auditorium on the Bellevue University campus. Guests are invited to attend the reception, view the art, and meet Cervantes in person.
There is no cost to view the exhibit throughout the month or to attend the reception.
Cervantes was born in Mexico City in 1970 and immigrated to the United States in 1987. After living in Dallas, he settled in Nebraska in 1989, where he lives today. His academic background includes advertising design and industrial technical drawing in Mexico, and a degree in commercial art from Omaha, Nebraska.
In addition to his art, Cervantes has worked in financial services, served as an interpreter in the Federal Immigration Court and the State Court of Nebraska, and served on the board of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
“Hispanic Heritage Month is about recognizing the stories and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities,” said Socorro Carrera, Global Partnerships Specialist at Bellevue University. “Marco Antonio Cervantes has shared his journey through his art, and this exhibit is an opportunity for the community to connect with that story.”
