Course Materials FAQs

Bellevue University is launching Course Materials, a new program that provides guaranteed access to required course materials for one flat fee per term.

What is the Course Materials program and how does it work?

Course Materials provides guaranteed access to required course materials, including ebooks, lab kits or art supplies on the first day of class. The cost for the materials is very low and is included in your Bellevue University tuition and fees.

Do all Bellevue University students have access to Course Materials?

The University plans to roll out the Course Materials program to all learners in traditional undergraduate and graduate courses starting in August 2023 (fall term).

Will I save money using Course Materials?

Undergraduate and graduate students will be able to get all of their required course materials for one flat fee of $165 per term for all course materials.

What if I already purchased my books for class?

If you already purchased your books for class, you have two options. One, you can keep the books you purchased and opt out of the Course Materials program. Or two, you can return your books for a refund and use the Course Materials inside Blackboard.

What do I need to do to get Course Materials?

You don’t need to take any action. Your required books and course materials will be inside your course on Blackboard and the cost charges will automatically assigned in your account. Look for an announcement in the course about how to access your digital bookshelf.

How do I get my books/course materials?

Digital materials, including ebooks will be delivered to you inside the Blackboard learning management system before the first day of class. Physical materials, such as art supplies and lab kits, will be gathered at the campus bookstore. You can pick up the materials there or they can be shipped to you. If you choose to have your supplies shipped to you, you are responsible to pay $10 outside the program at your own cost. Access the Bellevue University Bookstore here.

How will my course materials access be impacted if I add or drop a course?

If you drop or add a course, your Course Materials access to the digital materials will be automatically updated to ensure you have access to the materials you need.

What if I want to keep my Course Materials after a class ends?

After your course ends, your Course Materials access to the digital materials for that course will be removed. However, you can choose to keep the materials by purchasing them at a discounted rate at the campus store.

What if I don’t want Course Materials?

You can opt out of the Course Materials program by talking to your assigned Student Coach. If you opt out of the program, you will need to purchase required books/materials on your own and that may cost more. After opting out, the cost of course materials will be removed from your student account.

What is the timeline to opt out?

You can opt out of the Course Materials program 14 days prior to term start and through the end of the drop/add period by talking to your Student Coach. When you opt out, you will be opting out for all of the Course Materials you enrolled in within the term.

Can I opt back in?

Yes, you can opt back in through the end of the drop/add period for each term by talking to your Student Coach.

What if I have trouble accessing Course Materials due to a disability?

Bellevue University strives to make its digital content accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. If you experience a barrier that affects your ability to access your course materials, please let us know at disability@bellevue.edu.
