Miles Landaw's Short Film "Art & Science" Selected for Benson Film Festival

art+science

Miles Landaw's short film, Art & Science, has been nominated and chosen as a feature at the Benson Film Festival. The event is from April 26 to April 28 at the historic Benson Theatre (6054 Maple St, Omaha, Nebraska). The vision of the festival is to incorporate artists of all kinds and create an immersive and creative experience for the community.

Art & Science is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, from 3 to 4 p.m. inviting audiences to explore the relationship between art and science and the overlap the two subjects tend to have.

At its core, Art & Science intertwines groundbreaking scientific research led by Dr. John Kyndt, focusing on algae and native plant biology, with artistic endeavors led by Professor David Thomas, Professor JoDee Goracke, and renowned artists Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero of Luftwerk. Together, they show how nature’s colors and design principles can profoundly impact the human experience, particularly amidst pressing environmental concerns like climate change.

“ART + SCIENCE is a unique opportunity where two disciplines coalesce. It’s been an honor to translate the content with design and creativity," said Landaw. "It was both challenging and rewarding! Bellevue has something unique in ART + SCIENCE. A genuinely diverse authentic way to connect with the community around us. The film festival is a prime example of BU being organically involved in the community.”
