Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 47 is poised to mark a significant achievement as it reaches a decade of providing support to veterans and their families.

Established in December 2013 with a humble start of assisting five veterans, Chapter 47 has experienced substantial growth over the years.

By the start of 2024, the chapter is on track to assist its 10,000th veteran.

Mike Jackman, a Department Service Officer volunteer member of the DAV Chapter 47, said, "We educate and help people tap into the benefits they deserve. Chapter 47 has earned the reputation we have through 100% word-of-mouth from veteran to veteran."

Services provided by the DAV to veterans encompass benefit assistance, employment aid, transition services, and medical transportation.

"The DAV really is a one-stop shop for our veterans," added Jackman.

The DAV's volunteer base consists of experienced prior military individuals dedicated to serving fellow veterans.

Matt Ritter, Bellevue University Relationship Manager, emphasized that the volunteers of Chapter 47 embody the true definition of civil service, a major theme taught throughout Bellevue University.
