Papillion La Vista Community Schools Hall of Fame Honors Bellevue University Leader
Papillion La Vista Community Schools (PLCS) recognized Bellevue University Vice President of Advancement John Erickson as a 2026 Hall of Fame honoree during the PLCS Foundation’s 17th Annual Back to School Soiree on Aug. 15, 2026. Erickson received recognition in the Community Booster category for his contributions to education, fundraising and community engagement throughout a career spanning more than 35 years.

Honored for Service to Education and Community
Bellevue University Vice President of Advancement John Erickson has been named a 2026 Papillion La Vista Community Schools Hall of Fame honoree in the Community Booster category. PLCS recognized Erickson during the Foundation’s 17th Annual Back to School Soiree on Aug. 15 as one of five individuals selected for induction.
A graduate of Papillion-La Vista High School's Class of 1980, Erickson's connection to the district spans decades. As a student, he served as class president, competed on the school's first Class A state championship tennis team and participated in a variety of school activities and organizations.
It is truly humbling to be recognized by Papillion La Vista Community Schools, a district that helped shape who I am both personally and professionally. From my years as a student at Papillion-La Vista High School to my time working alongside educators, families and community leaders, I have seen firsthand the extraordinary impact this district has on people's lives. I am grateful for the opportunities I've had to support education throughout my career, and I share this honor with the many colleagues, volunteers and community partners who have dedicated themselves to helping students succeed.
Building Support for Students and Schools
For more than 35 years, Erickson has worked in fundraising and development roles that support educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. His career has included leadership positions with the University of Nebraska Foundation, Madonna Foundation and the Papillion La Vista Community Schools Foundation, where he served as executive director for more than 10 years.
During his tenure with the Papillion La Vista Community Schools Foundation, Erickson helped connect community stakeholders with opportunities that supported students, teachers, families and district initiatives. His work contributed to the launch and growth of the foundation's endowment program, named funds, the Skilled & Technical Trades Collaboration Model and Kids Club. Today, Erickson serves as Vice President of Advancement at Bellevue University, where he leads efforts that support student success, community partnerships and institutional growth.
