Solo Fortnite Tournament Set for August 11-12
Free, Online Event Is Open to the Public; Winner Will Receive Scholarship for New Streaming Media Production Course
Bellevue University will host an online Solo Fortnite Tournament the weekend of August 11-12 and the tournament winner will receive a scholarship to attend and enroll in the University’s new streaming media production course. Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the free tournament, which will be streamed at https://www.twitch.tv/bellevueuniversityesports.
According to Mary Dobransky, Dean of the College of Science and Technology, the Fortnite event is an appropriate way to celebrate the University’s innovative course. “Our Fundamentals of Streaming Media Production course will provide students with an in-depth exploration of aspects needed to provide quality live stream productions,” said Dobransky. “Students will learn about the entire streaming industry, everything from computer requirements to entrepreneurship.” She said that ESPT 110, which is a three-credit course that fulfills a general education requirement, is believed to be one of the first courses in the country to focus on streaming media production in the eSports field.
The winner of the Fortnite tournament event will receive a scholarship to enroll into Bellevue University’s ESPT 110 Fundamentals of Streaming Media Production course, which begins Aug. 29. To receive and use the scholarship, an individual must have earned a high school diploma or GED.
