United Way of the Midlands Recognizes Bellevue University as Volunteer Organization of the Year
Bellevue University has been recognized by the United Way of the Midlands (UWM) as Volunteer Organization of the Year in the academic sector for standing out as a leader in community service and engagement in the metro.
The UWM's Volunteer Organization of the Year award is given to companies that consistently strive to improve the community through volunteerism. Bellevue was chosen for this award for its high employee engagement and participation in UWM volunteer events during the 2023 campaign year. Highlights of the University's efforts included:
- Using United Way's Get Connected volunteer platform to involve 90 employees in various volunteer initiatives.
- Participating in key United Way events like Day of Caring and MLK Day to support the community.
- Connecting with United Way partner nonprofits and fostering meaningful long-term relationships.
Bellevue University President Dr. Mary Hawkins accepted the award at the United Way of the Midlands annual awards luncheon held October 24.
"Our staff and faculty are generous with their time and in helping the communities where we live, work and do business," said Dr. Hawkins.
