Alumna Season Hanner followed her dream

Bellevue University alumna Season R. Hanner of Omaha has published an imaginative fictional adventure novel, a project she began more than a decade ago. The book, titled Sabi, was published in December 2011.

Hanner, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Human and Social Services Administration degree from the University in 2007, discussed her book this week on an Omaha television channel KMTV. Click here to watch the interview and hear her tell how the book finally got written and published.

The first volume of a series Hanner hopes to publish, Sabi is the tale of Ankhesenamum, a widowed Egyptian queen who flees the country in a Phoenician slave ship (approximately 1,300 BC) after the death of her husband, King Tutankhamun, aka King Tut. The ship eventually wrecks on the shores of Imperial Japan. The queen, her guards and other members of her household, survive and build an alliance with a Japanese Lord. The book is available online at blackrosewritingbooks.com.

Hanner’s advice for other would-be authors: Surround yourself with encouraging people, and go for it.
